Greetings, my word-loving friends! Hope you’re all well. I’m ready to share another snippet from my WIP today–Love Unleashed! So without further ado, let’s see what’s shakin’ and bakin’ at The Barkery!

Continuing from where we left off…

A little hand flew into the air. “What about Muffy?”

“Oh, Muffy has the most important job of all,” Hannah said. “She’s our official taste-tester! And whatever biscuits we manage to pry out of her greedy puppy paws will be used to fill the doggy bags for all the Dogspeed participants.” Her gaze landed on Kent following that final tidbit.

Nice plug there. He had to credit her for the genius business move. Having the kids help bake and decorate the biscuits for her event gave it just the right touch of sentimentality. Plus, it saved her the work.

***End of WWW post, but carry on to finish this sequence.***

Once they were divided in half, Ms. Theodore and Lisa accompanied their three into the kitchen, and he stayed out front with Hannah and Diana’s group. Hannah had set up a kid-size table equipped with every imaginable color of icing and sprinkles, all dog-safe, she’d assured the children. She tied an apron around each of them, and they sat while she retrieved a baking sheet covered with peanut butter paws which she delivered to her awaiting audience.

Kent stood off to the side and quietly observed. His daughter chose neon-green, blue, and orange icing to decorate her paw. He commended Diana on her funky style, earning a smile, but when Hannah heartily approved her artistic choices, she all but melted. Ignoring the burning sensation in his stomach akin to jealousy, he considered Hannah from the perspective of a six-year-old. She was a sight to behold. Energetic, outgoing, silly, and sweet. A powerful force of nature. A beautiful hurricane. You could either get out of the way or allow yourself to be swept up and go along for the ride.

He hadn’t decided which was the safest route to take yet.

Here’s the blurb:

Hannah Barker has it all. A booming business, a fabulous group of girlfriends, and a loving and devoted housemate…with floppy ears and a wet nose. She doesn’t have time for romance. Or so she says.

Kent Clarkson is a single father on a mission to keep his daughter safe. But when the blonde bombshell he’s been butting heads with all summer proposes opening a dog park, Kent—who’s been once bitten and more than twice shy—goes on the offensive. Soon, it’s all-out war.

The whole town knows the chemistry between Hannah and Kent is off the leash, but can these two set aside their differences long enough to fall in love?

Thanks so much for stopping by and be sure to visit the other Weekend Writing Warriors!

I experienced the joy and wonder of preordering my groceries for pickup yesterday, and let me tell you, I am a CHANGED woman! I love food, I love eating, I even love cooking, but I can’t stand shopping. Now, I don’t have to anymore! It’s the little things, peeps. The little things. I even got a bouquet of flowers for being a first-timer, and two free boxes of mac and cheese. Hell to the yes!

I’ll see all you fine folks next weekend, okay? Too-da-loo! 🙂
