Hello, my friends! Happy day of one extra hour of sleep! Just in case you’re still feeling sleepy, here’s another cup o’ Steeped in Love to help wake you up! ๐
Continuing from where we left off….
โWhat other kinds of adventurous stuff do you like to do?โ While the question sounded innocent enough, the borderline-lecherous look in his eyes indicated his direction of thinking.
Her mind raced as she tugged nervously at the clingy fabric of her tank top. โOh, Iโm a regular Bear Grylls,โ she lied. โName a mountain, Iโve climbed it. Sandboarding? Done it. Whitewater rafting? Childโs play.โ Fibs, fables, and fictions so ridiculous even she had to stifle a smile, but at least sheโd sparked a grin from him, too.
Hereโs the blurb:
Addie Mitchell is a pie-on-the-fly entrepreneur whoโs finally ready to settle down in the big, empty house her late great-aunt Edna left to her. Frustrated with her lack of success in romance, Addie turns to another gift her great-aunt passed on to herโthe art of reading tea leavesโto aid her in her search for the ideal mate.ย
Novelist Ethan Holtz is having a hard time sinking his teeth into his next project, but he finds Addie fascinating.ย Mainly for her ability to make her dates disappear in fifteen minutes or less. He canโt help but eavesdrop on her dates in the local coffee shop, his writing haven, and soon finds himself taking pointers on what not to do from her failed suitors.
Though her methods seem nothing short of mad, he falls fast and hard for the pixie-haired pie-pusher. She thinks theyโre all wrong for each other, but Ethan teams up with the tea leaves to prove theyโre so right.

So, anyone else doing the NaNo thing? Steeped in Love is actually my project for that. It was finished, in theory, but I’ve decided to beef it up a bit so I can submit it to more publishers and enter it into the Golden Heart. When I first completed it, it was around the 35k mark, but now I’m over 40k and I can say, for the first time ever, that I’ve written something novel-length! It’s such a cool feeling! ๐ Happy writing, my friends!
Hilarious! I love the way she’s fibbed her way through this guy. Get him outa here!
Thinking of you, dear GF. Stay warm.
Hee! He won’t be around for long. ๐ You stay warm, too! xo
What a good snippet! The premise of this story is awesome. I can hardly wait to read it!
I’m doing the same thing with Nano this year. I’m working on the story I’ve been posting for wewriwa. Stalled out just a tad over 50K, thought I’d use Nano as motivation to keep writing. ๐
Good luck-and Yay-you! Writing something novel length! I love that extra hour of sleep. ๐
Aww, thank you so much, Teresa!
Best of luck with your NaNo project. It’s a great way to motivate yourself to keep going! ๐
You are a very novel novelist. I love that we’re doing this NaNo thing together!
๐ Why, thank you! I love it, too! We’re in it to win it, baby!
Great snippet. Best wishes with NaNo.
Thanks so much, Diane! I appreciate it! ๐
Heh. Think his bravado will come back to bite him!
You might be right about that bite. ๐ Thanks, Angelica!
“Fibs, fables and fictions” was a great turn of phrase. Enjoyed the excerpt!
Thanks, Veronica! So glad you enjoyed it! ๐
Hee hee, hope her fibs do the job. Welcome to the world of novelists- this story should make a great one!
Aww, thanks, Christina! So happy to join this crazy word world! ๐
Oh no! She’s going to have to back those words with actions. Fun snippet, Julie!!
Thanks, Nancy! That’s the scary part, right? lol ๐
I’m glad that Addie seems to be having fun, even though I suspect this guy will soon be toast. (Yum, toast…) This story is so adorable, I’m also glad you’re adding more to it. More to love!
Re. that last line – I hope Megan isn’t drinking too much coffee right now. ๐ I love that you love my story, and me and my story love you! <3
Congratulations on your vord count, Julie. I am really enjoying this story, awesome writing.

Awesome, Elyzabeth! I wish you the best of luck! ๐
Oh, no, she’s doubling down on the lying. That is not going to end well.
Good luck on NaNo! Write like the wind! ๐
Thanks, Caitlin! Same to you! ๐
She sounds delicious and I love your blurb. This is my first time doing this and I’m discovering new authors to cross-promote with and read
