Hey, my peeps! Sorry to disappear on you again. I’ve been hanging with family and working hard on edits. Love Unleashed is set to release on October 13th, so mark your calendars! In the meantime, here’s another snippet!
Continuing from where we left off…
Hannah planted both hands on her hips and met his gaze directly. “Listen, I saw your flyers, and I get it, the leash thing. All dogs should be kept on leashes in public places. I don’t disagree. That’s something that any responsible pet owner should have their dog trained to do. But what’s wrong with having a designated area for dogs to run free? You had no right to waltz in there and obstruct months of progress!”
“I have a right to have my voice heard!” he argued.
“Your voice was heard at the public forum. And at the first proposal meeting, and the second. I had this thing wrapped up in a neat little package, and now the council is delaying the vote, which means it won’t be addressed again until after their summer recess.”
***End of WWW post, but here’s a bit more!***
Kent frowned. “What do you mean?”
“What I mean,” she repeated back in a derisive tone, “is that you showed up just in time to derail this project for a good three months! I hope you’re happy.”
The other townspeople and council members who’d begun filing into the parking lot steered clear of Hannah and Kent as they quickly made their way to their vehicles. Hannah’s voice had a tendency to carry. It was a tool of the trade, and a byproduct of growing up with three brothers.
“If that’s what it takes to prevent a rash decision that impacts everyone in the community, then so be it.”
Here’s the blurb:
Hannah Barker has it all. A booming business, a fabulous group of girlfriends, and a loving and devoted housemate…with floppy ears and a wet nose. She doesn’t have time for romance. Or so she says.
Kent Clarkson is a single father on a mission to keep his daughter safe. But when the blonde bombshell he’s been butting heads with all summer proposes opening a dog park, Kent—who’s been once bitten and more than twice shy—goes on the offensive. Soon, it’s all-out war.
The whole town knows the chemistry between Hannah and Kent is off the leash, but can these two set aside their differences long enough to fall in love?
Thanks so much for stopping by and be sure to visit the other Weekend Writing Warriors!
I remember I promised to share my new cover with all of you, but we’ll start off with this first: Love Unleashed Cover Reveal: Part One!
I’m already booking birthday parties. Let me know if you’d like me to perform at yours. 😉 Have a wonderful week, my friends, and I’ll see you next Sunday!
Wow, so much tension!! He is really not fond of dogs.
He definitely is not, but with good reason. 🙂
I agree with Hannah – the dog park should have a good fence. It shouldn’t be a problem. People don’t take aggressive dogs to a doggie park.
You’re right. Kent’s fear is irrational to most people, but not to him.
They certainly aren’t on the same page on this issue! I love the realistic tone of all the conversation though…really enjoyed the snippet.
Thanks, Veronica! I’m so glad to hear that! 🙂
What she’s saying makes sense. If people choose to go into the park, it’s on them. No one is being forced to go in. I understand his anxiety, though. Maybe he needs some help dealing with it? It’s rough when there are such strong feelings on both sides.
I’m glad you can appreciate both viewpoints here. Thanks for stopping by, Kate! 🙂
