Hiya! Happy Easter! Hope you all continue to be well. Life is certainly different these days. The things I miss the most are playing and watching sports, teaching in the traditional face-to-face sense, and having my groceries professionally bagged. I swear, it’s like a science experiment gone wrong when I bring my self-packed bags home and try to sort through the wreckage. Anybody else? Just me? 😀 Let’s turn it over to Will and Becks for a new snippet from Learning to Love!
Continuing from where we left off…
And for one brief moment, she gave in. She surrendered. She stopped thinking about the damn consequences and listened only to her heart.
This is a really bad idea, her brain blurted one last protest before she stood on her tiptoes. “Oh, shut up,” she murmured.
“Huh?” Will gasped, but she silenced him with her lips. On his lips. The gentle pressure she applied wasn’t enough—not nearly enough. He must have agreed because her back hit the wall and she moaned as his tongue entered her mouth. Warm, wet, oh-so-welcoming heat flooded her body as they effortlessly fell into a give and take that took her breath away.
Here’s the blurb:
Rebecca Ledgerwood is a physical education teacher who’s ready to invest some sweat equity into a lasting romance. On a whim, she has her palm read before summer vacation ends, and she’s told she’s an old soul who’ll find happiness with a younger man.
William Whitney leaves an unfulfilling career to pursue teaching and gets placed at Rebecca’s school for his physical education practicum. He’s desperate to make a difference, convinced that the choices he made in the past contributed to his younger sister’s death. Kendal High School is nothing like the prep school he attended as a teenager, but he’s determined to make the most of his time there, especially if it makes Rebecca notice him.
Though they come from vastly different backgrounds, there’s an undeniable chemistry that sparks between the two. They resist, as they must, until his practicum ends, but when he’s offered a teaching position at his former prep school, will he take the easy way out, or fight for what’s right in front of him?
Thanks so much for stopping by and be sure to visit the other Weekend Writing Warriors!
Hope you enjoyed the kissy-kissy! Somebody ought to be doing that these days. 😉 Take care and be well, my friends! I’ll see you next week! xo
Hey Girl Friend. Take good care of yourself. We must be cautious at this awful time. My daughter watches over me as I take care of my cats, Sadie, my sweet pooch and even 2 chickens living in their cute little house. Your lovey dove is adorable. Way to go, my friend. Charmaine Gordon here.
I love that you’re all there together, humans and animals, all nice and cozy. Stay safe, my friend! xoxo
Now, will she regret this kiss?
Lol you’ll just have to wait and see. 😉
At last! I’m so glad they finally got down to it. She seems to be enjoying herself (I bet he is too!). Now in the aftermath, that may be another thing. Great snippet!
Haha, true! We’ll let them both enjoy it for now, at least. 😉 Thanks, Jenna!
Well good for her! Loved the snippet, especially her internal thoughts…
😀 Thanks, Veronica! So glad you enjoyed it!
Great description of the kiss!
I’m not bagging my own groceries, so that’s not a problem. (I’m in the “You’ll Die if You Catch This!” subgroup, so I’m not going out.
A question I meant to ask a few weeks ago when you said you were working from home. How do you teach PE remotely?
😀 Thank you!
Glad you’re keeping safe, Ed. I’d totally bag your groceries for you, but I like you too much to do that to you.
Teaching PE remotely is no easy feat. I’ve assigned my students fitness logs that they’re supposed to fill in whenever they’re active. I gave them a wellness challenge that involves little activities they can do to promote health and mental wellbeing, such as unplugging for a while and playing a board game with their family, or creating a new, healthy recipe. I sent them a two-part nutrition unit that they’re working their way through. At some point, I’m thinking of making a video of me doing a circuit workout and showing them different exercises they can do sans equipment.
Who knows how long this will go on, so creativity is a must! 🙂
Thanks for explaining this. I couldn’t picture how it would work.
What a great snippet, looking forward to more.
Thank you, Cecilia! More next week! 🙂
Aww. Such a lovely scene. About time! I’m staying home, missing family. We’re doing a Zoom meeting today to celebrate the 5-yr-old birthday. Should be interesting. 🙂
I am finally getting caught up. I have not been the best follow upper on reading everyone’s stories. And I can’t believe I have forgotten yours, one of the ones I have enjoyed the most.
It is funny how we have taken over a month to get this far and if we read the book, this would have taken less than five minutes. It’s almost more fun and exciting this way.
Great job. Looking forward to seeing how this progresses.
