Good Sunday morning to you, my friends! Hope the words have been flowing! I’ve got more Steeped in Love, freshly brewed and ready for you! 🙂
Continuing from where we left off (Hannah’s speaking)….
“I think this is a sign that I’m meant to be a matchmaker. You know, I always had a feeling this was my true calling in life—”
“You already have a job,” Gwen cut in. “The Barkery, remember?”
“Yes, but this could be, like, a side gig or something. Ooh, maybe I could have a doggie dating service, too!”
“I think you’ve seen Lady and the Tramp one too many times.”
Gwen’s comment somehow tripped a trigger and Hannah’s infectious smile became a scowl. “Have you seen that guy putting up those dog leash posters? He’s been loitering outside my store all week, harassing my customers…I think he needs a leash,” she snarled.
Here’s the blurb:
Addie Mitchell is a pie-on-the-fly entrepreneur who’s finally ready to settle down in the big, empty house her late great-aunt Edna left to her. Frustrated with her lack of success in romance, Addie turns to another gift her great-aunt passed on to her—the art of reading tea leaves—to aid her in her search for the ideal mate.
Novelist Ethan Holtz is having a hard time sinking his teeth into his next project, but he finds Addie fascinating. Mainly for her ability to make her dates disappear in fifteen minutes or less. He can’t help but eavesdrop on her dates in the local coffee shop, his writing haven, and soon finds himself taking pointers on what not to do from her failed suitors.
Though her methods seem nothing short of mad, he falls fast and hard for the pixie-haired pie-pusher. She thinks they’re all wrong for each other, but Ethan teams up with the tea leaves to prove they’re so right.
Thanks so much for stopping by and be sure to visit the other Weekend Writing Warriors!
Can’t believe this month is mostly over already. I’ve been doing more reading/editing than writing as of late, but I hope to get a chunk of writing done in the coming weeks. I’ve got a book to finish, people! I registered earlier this week for both an editor and agent pitching appointment at RWA in Orlando, so this story needs to be polished and ready to present by then. Wish me luck! May we all have a very productive week ahead! 🙂
Dog leash posters? Is this guy going to be her next failed beau?
I think you’re confusing Hannah with Addie. But Poster Dude will play a bigger role later on. 😉
Hahaha Great snippet! I’m curious about what she’s going to do about the dog leash guy.
😀 Thanks, Elyabeth! You’ll just have to wait and see…while I figure it out, too. lol
Wishing you the best luck ever at Orlando, my friend. Fun snippet, as always. Charming and kind of goofy.
Aww, thanks, Charmaine! Charming and goofy–that’s me! 😀
Heh. I can’t wait for Hannah to bear her teeth at him!
Grr. Bare, not bear. She isn’t a grizzly autocorrect!
Hee! Hannah’s like a bear when she’s mad, though. You’re not far off. 😉 Thanks, Miss Maggie! xo
You know, I bet doggie dating services could be an actual thing. Great snippet, and good luck! 😀
I bet they already exist somewhere in this crazy world we live in lol! Thanks, Amy! 🙂
Good luck in Florida and I to believe the Dog Dating could be the next best thing!
Lorraine Lute!
Thanks, Lorraine! 😀 You are the BEST! xoxo
Always new interesting twists and turns! Enjoyed the snippet 🙂
Unpredictable…that’s what I am. 😉 Thanks, Veronica!
Doggie dating made me smile. If the leash posters are referring to keeping dogs on leash, though… I’d agree it’s generally a good idea. There’s all sorts of hazards out there!
I agree, too, but this guy is a bit nutty about his placement of said posters. Doggie dating, though…that has serious potential. 😀 Thanks, Caitlin!
Doggie matchmaking? Why not? Love how quickly Hannah goes from laughing to scowling. That dog leash guy is in a lot of trouble. Good snippet.
I’m wondering if Hannah might like dogs more than people. I wouldn’t blame her. 🙂
My dog definitely likes the idea of ‘Doggie Matchmaking’ – he used to be very shy and nervous of other dogs but after a lot of training and patience, I think he’s ready to date! 🙂
Seriously though, this was such a fun snippet and I really want to know more!
