Helloooooooooooo! How’s everyone? As promised, I’m back this week with a snippet from my WIP, Love Unleashed! This is the third book in my Make Me a Match Series, but it kind of falls in between books 1 and 2. So I guess it’s more like 1.5. Math is hard, yo. đ Before we jump in, I figured I’d share the blurb first so you get a sense of the story.
Hannah Barker has it all. A booming business, a fabulous group of girlfriends, and a loving and devoted housemateâŠwith floppy ears and a wet nose. She doesnât have time for romance. Or so she says.
Kent Clarkson is a single father on a mission to keep his daughter safe. But when the blonde bombshell heâs been butting heads with all summer proposes opening a dog park, Kentâwhoâs been once bitten and more than twice shyâgoes on the offensive. Soon, itâs all-out war.
The whole town knows the chemistry between Hannah and Kent is off the leash, but can these two set aside their differences long enough to fall in love?
Now it’s time for the excerpt!
Clutching tightly to his daughterâs and another young girlâs hand, Kent crossed the street and caught up with the collection of tall and small people on the other sideâthree teachers, two other parents, and eighteen high-energy first graders. A perfect storm.
He hadnât thought too much about the details of the field trip when he was first asked to chaperone. It seemed fairly straightforward. In groups of eight, they were set to tour Kendalâs town square and visit some of the local businesses and their owners. Once everyone had gathered safely and been assigned their groups, the parents were each given a schedule listing the places theyâd be visiting in a rotation.
Diana tugged at his hand, anxious to get moving. âDaddy! Daddy! Did you see? Miaâs in our group!â
***End of WWW post, but carry on to finish this sequence.***
âI saw, sweetheart,â Kent said distractedly. âThatâs wonderful news.â He scanned the names of the businesses on the schedule, certain he must have read it wrong. After a second time through, his gut clenched. âWait here for a minute, okay?â
âOkay, Daddy,â his pigtailed angel agreed without a fuss.
Maneuvering his way around the crowd of under-four-footers, he located Dianaâs teacher. âExcuse me, Ms. Theodore?â At her nod, he said, âI noticed The Barkery is listed as one of the businesses weâre visiting.â
She beamed. âYes, weâre so happy they agreed. Theyâve apparently set up a lot of hands-on activities for the kids.â
Kentâs body tensed.

In case you’re wondering, the puppy in the picture at the top of my post is Muffy, Hannah’s Labradoodle. Expect many more puppy pics going forward. Wishing you all a productive and word-filled week ahead! See you next Sunday! đ
The Barkery! Everything about this project is totally charming, from the blurb to the snippet. Can’t wait to read more!
Gotta second that. Charming all around. Love the puppy pics and am ready for more.
Oh, this is going to be delightful!!!
Enjoyed the snippet. This Dad is probably in for more than a few surprises on the field trip. Sounds like a terrific story shaping up here, Barkery and all.
I guess he doesn’t like dogs – this relationship will be difficult!
Yikes! I remember those field trips with my kids’ classes. I’m thankful most of them were outdoors.
Great snippet! Sounds great already!
Looks like will be to be ruff going at first between Hannah and Kent. I hope they paws long enough to give each other a chance.
Cute blurb. More please.
Oh, Dad is going to have to suck it up and go into his nemesis’s establishment. This is really getting good very quickly. Love the synopsis!
Just as long as the Labradoodle stays on a leash, right? This book should be good. I like stories like this, taking on the perspective of another character of the series. Great snippet.
This story is going to be so much fun. I know you teach high school, right? You’ve got the ratio of adults to kids wrong. It should be 2 adults to 1 kid. LOL Yeah, I taught 1st grade way back when.
Hahaha! They’ll have to behave. No war today. lolol Or, maybe they won’t, and then they’ll really be the talk of the town.
