Greetings, my friends and fellow authors! Hope you all continue to be well despite the circumstances. Quarantine life continues here in Canada, and I’m fortunate enough to be able to work from home. That *should* translate to more writing time, right? Don’t be afraid to crack the whip on me. Ahem. Here’s another snippet from Learning to Love!
Continuing from where we left off…
“I’m not okay, Will. I’m never going to be okay with this.”
“With what?”
“Us working together. You being here.”
The anguish reflected in his bright blue eyes sliced her heart in two. “Why?”
“Because it’s too hard being near you and not…” She couldn’t finish the thought. Her brain short-circuited when his warm palm grasped her hip and pulled her closer.
“Not what?” he whispered.
The music thumped in the background, but there was no one there but them.
Here’s the blurb:
Rebecca Ledgerwood is a physical education teacher who’s ready to invest some sweat equity into a lasting romance. On a whim, she has her palm read before summer vacation ends, and she’s told she’s an old soul who’ll find happiness with a younger man.
William Whitney leaves an unfulfilling career to pursue teaching and gets placed at Rebecca’s school for his physical education practicum. He’s desperate to make a difference, convinced that the choices he made in the past contributed to his younger sister’s death. Kendal High School is nothing like the prep school he attended as a teenager, but he’s determined to make the most of his time there, especially if it makes Rebecca notice him.
Though they come from vastly different backgrounds, there’s an undeniable chemistry that sparks between the two. They resist, as they must, until his practicum ends, but when he’s offered a teaching position at his former prep school, will he take the easy way out, or fight for what’s right in front of him?

Haha! We’re gonna need more paper towels to clean up the spillage. 😉
Great scene, Julie. You’ve made us feel her anguish.
Thanks, Ed! I’m happy, and sorry, to hear that. 😀 *pats everyone on the shoulder* There, there.
Oh boy! It’s heating up. What will she do now?? They’re entering taboo territory.
At least there’s some honestly gong on now, and they’ll know where they stand.
Good writing, Jules! Take advantage of the extra time–and be safe, my friend!
Stay tuned and you’ll find out! 😉
Thank you, my friend! You do the same! *hugs*
