Hey, my peeps! Happy long weekend! It’s Family Day here on Monday, so today feels a lot like a second Saturday! đ Here’s another snippet from Learning to Love!
Continuing from where we left off…
That, along with the shoulder shove, forced a laugh out of him. He wouldnât dare tell her about the cookie crumbs in the corner of her mouth, or how badly he wished he could wipe them away with the pad of his thumb. âOkay, so I noticed,â he admitted. Certainly wasnât the first thing he noticed, but she didnât need to know that.Â
All too soon, however, she seemed to notice just how close in proximity they were. She retreated a safe distance, keeping her gaze trained on him. âGuess we donât need to get your eyes checked, then.â
Nope. Not unless seeing her face and only her face was a bad thing. He considered that particular form of tunnel vision a blessing.
Hereâs the blurb:
Rebecca Ledgerwood is a physical education teacher whoâs ready to invest some sweat equity into a lasting romance. On a whim, she has her palm read before summer vacation ends, and sheâs told sheâs an old soul whoâll find happiness with a younger man.
William Whitney leaves an unfulfilling career to pursue teaching and gets placed at Rebeccaâs school for his physical education practicum. Heâs desperate to make a difference, convinced that the choices he made in the past contributed to his younger sisterâs death. Kendal High School is nothing like the prep school he attended as a teenager, but heâs determined to make the most of his time there, especially if it makes Rebecca notice him.
Though they come from vastly different backgrounds, thereâs an undeniable chemistry that sparks between the two. They resist, as they must, until his practicum ends, but when heâs offered a teaching position at his former prep school, will he take the easy way out, or fight for whatâs right in front of him?
Thanks so much for stopping by and be sure to visit the other Weekend Writing Warriors!
Later on today, I’m hanging with some teacher pals at a place called House of Targ. I went once with this same group, and it was like stepping back into the 80s. There are over 40 pinball machines and all kinds of classic arcade games, and after 8pm on Sundays they put them all on free-play mode. They only serve pierogies, but they’re fricking delicious. There’s a guy who announces over microphone when your pierogies are ready, and if you don’t pick them up in a timely manner, he publicly shames you. SO awesome. đ Enjoy the rest of your weekend, my friends!
Well, he’s certainly attracted to her. Will she come around, I hope? She does seem a little standoffish. Nice snippet!
She seems a little sloppy!
They’re so cute together! I love how this is developing, Julie.
Great job showing his infatuation with her!
That is delicious writing! And I’m not talking about the crumbs in the corner of her mouth! lol
Whoo! He’s got it bad already. đ
Aww, he’s such a sweetie! OK, I’m ready for them to be together NOW…but i’m also anticipating all the bumps you’ll put in their way LOL. Great snippet!
So flirty! Can’t wait to watch their love blossom.
That’s what’s wrong with the world today, not enough public shaming!
As always, your couple is adorable. Can’t wait for them to finally connect!
Enjoy your extra day off! (BTW, just gave away a copy of Steeped in Love as a gift!)
Sparks are flying between these two!
Loving how the tension is building. You can almost feel his self-restraint.
