Hey, gang! I’m back again after a brief hiatus. Hope you’re all doing well and that your February is off to a fabulous start! Ready for another snippet from Learning to Love? Read on! 🙂
Continuing from where we left off…
“It still feels that way some days,” he said with a chuckle.
Turning to face him, she said, “Just be glad you weren’t the one with hummus on your face earlier.”
He bit his lip, trying to suppress his amusement and feign ignorance instead. “Hmm?”
“When we met? In the Phys. Ed. office?” she asked, growing impatient. “I might as well have used it as a moisturizer.”
Popping the remainder of his cookie into his mouth, he shrugged and said, “Nah, didn’t see it.”
She leaned her head closer and narrowed her eyes at him, staring him down until he couldn’t help but crack a smile. “You are the biggest liar.”
Here’s the blurb:
Rebecca Ledgerwood is a physical education teacher who’s ready to invest some sweat equity into a lasting romance. On a whim, she has her palm read before summer vacation ends, and she’s told she’s an old soul who’ll find happiness with a younger man.
William Whitney leaves an unfulfilling career to pursue teaching and gets placed at Rebecca’s school for his physical education practicum. He’s desperate to make a difference, convinced that the choices he made in the past contributed to his younger sister’s death. Kendal High School is nothing like the prep school he attended as a teenager, but he’s determined to make the most of his time there, especially if it makes Rebecca notice him.
Though they come from vastly different backgrounds, there’s an undeniable chemistry that sparks between the two. They resist, as they must, until his practicum ends, but when he’s offered a teaching position at his former prep school, will he take the easy way out, or fight for what’s right in front of him?

Here’s a quick update on the life of Julie:
Semester two is in full swing and I’m having a blast with my Phys. Ed. classes! I’m a little over a week into my 37th year of being a human and so far it doesn’t suck. I spent this weekend competing in the Ottawa Ice Dragon Boat Festival with some incredible women from Newfoundland–all breast cancer survivors–who are now dear friends, too.
Have a great week, my friends, and happy writing! 🙂
Wow – what a fun weekend!
It certainly was! 🙂
I am glad that your 37th year doesn’t suck thus far. Looked liked you had a grand old time dragon boating. Never a dull moment with you.
A rip-roaring good time, one might say! 😉 Thanks, Mamalu!
Brrr! Sounds like you’ve been having fun!
Your excerpts always make me smile and this one is no different. Well done, Julie
Well, your comments always make me smile, so we’re even! 😀 Thanks so much, Nancy!

Your humor–might as well have used it as a moisturizer. lolol!
Love the dragon boat pic. Go Julie!
And a belated happy, happy birthday to you!
😀 Hummus might actually be a good moisturizer. I should try it lol! Thanks so much for your sweet words, Teresa! You’re a wonderful friend! xo
Nice bit of playful flirtation here.
Thanks, Ed! Plenty more of that to come! 🙂
Well if he’s a liar, he’s a sweetheart. I do enjoy this couple and the dialog. Great snippet!
The best kind of liar there is. 😉 Thanks so much, Veronica! Glad you’re enjoying it!
Nice interaction. I’m curious to read more now.
Love the flirtation. Great job. First time seeing your work, look forward to seeing more.
Dragon boating sounds like fun! I love the interplay between these two. Easy, normal, cute.
