A holly, jolly hello to one and all! Happy Sunday! Here’s another snippet from Learning to Love to start your day off right! 🙂
Continuing from where we left off…
Will could sense there was more she wanted to say, but he didn’t press the issue. “When’s the last time you ate?”
Color rose high in her cheeks. “I didn’t get a chance to finish my lunch and had a really busy afternoon….” she trailed off as he stretched to his full height. “Where are you going?”
“Sit tight,” he said, “I’ll be right back.” He jogged halfway down the hall before he realized he didn’t have a key to get into the Phys. Ed. office. Turning back to her with a sheepish smile, he asked, “Could I borrow your key?”
She yanked on the lanyard hanging from her pocket and tossed a cluster of keys at him, smiling when he caught the jangling ball of metal. “It’s the one with the purple cover.”
Here’s the blurb:
Rebecca Ledgerwood is a physical education teacher who’s ready to invest some sweat equity into a lasting romance. On a whim, she has her palm read before summer vacation ends, and she’s told she’s an old soul who’ll find happiness with a younger man.
William Whitney leaves an unfulfilling career to pursue teaching and gets placed at Rebecca’s school for his physical education practicum. He’s desperate to make a difference, convinced that the choices he made in the past contributed to his younger sister’s death. Kendal High School is nothing like the prep school he attended as a teenager, but he’s determined to make the most of his time there, especially if it makes Rebecca notice him.
Though they come from vastly different backgrounds, there’s an undeniable chemistry that sparks between the two. They resist, as they must, until his practicum ends, but when he’s offered a teaching position at his former prep school, will he take the easy way out, or fight for what’s right in front of him?
Thanks so much for stopping by and be sure to visit the other Weekend Writing Warriors!
Two weeks from now, I’ll be on my Christmas holidays! I can’t believe it’s just around the corner, and I super can’t believe I’ve got my shopping done! That means I get to shop for myself now, right? Right! I might have my eye on a fancy pair of lime-green shoes that would look great in my stocking. Or ON my stockings. 😀 See you next week, my friends!
Julie, you are one of a kind. Every week I want to have a good laugh with you. Hugs always from me to you.
And big hugs back to you, my friend! Thanks for always bringing a smile to my face! 🙂 xo
Aww. Looks like he is in search of some food for her. Very sweet.
I know you will enjoy your winter break. As far as the shoes, what’s one more pair, right?
Right you are, on all counts. 😀 I noticed I had very little green representation in my shoe collection and I felt the need to remedy that.
I do like the way the story is proceeding along, he’s very sweet 🙂 He needs a set of keys of his own though! Great snippet…
Yeah, I kinda like him, too. 😀 Keys are very precious in teacher-landia. They’re begrudgingly given to newbies, and Will is a little too new to expect a set of his own yet. You gotta earn those babies! LOL
Such sharp, vivid details!
Why, thank you, Ed! 🙂 Happy to hear that!
He seems like a keeper. Very protective already. A good sign in a man!
He’s a good guy, but he’s got a ways to go before he can prove that to my heroine. 🙂
Just like real life, keys (or lack of them) are usually a problem. 🙂
Lol so true! They’re nothin’ but trouble! 😀
Ahhh, and so it starts. 🙂 Good way to bring them together, Julie. He gets to be a bit of a dashing hero (pun intended).
I think you absolutely deserve the lime green shoes! 🙂
Of course he’s going to get her something to eat. I love his little embarrassing moment when he realizes he doesn’t have keys. Makes him so human. Enjoy the shopping for self. I always find so many things for me while shopping for others. Drives Hubs crazy because it preempts his gift buying..
Mmm, I do love a man who knows the importance of feeding a woman! (That sounded much better in my head, but you know what I mean!)
Maybe you could borrow the Dutch tradition of getting Christmas gifts IN your shoes? Then you could get the lime green shoes, and other treats besides! And…it’s educational, learning about the traditions of others! In any case, you should definitely get them!
This is too sweet, can’t wait to see how the story unfolds.
