Ho-ho-happy December! I can’t believe we’re already into the final month of 2019. This year has absolutely flown by. I’ll hit you with a few more snippets from Learning to Love before I take a break for the holidays, work on cleaning it up, and get it ready to release by spring of 2020! 🙂
Continuing from where we left off…
Slowly, once she’d regained her balance, he helped her into a sitting position against the lockers, and he kneeled in front of her. Her glassy eyes eventually focused on him, striking him diddy-dumb. “You okay?” he asked, though the question could have just as easily applied to him.
“I, uh…I think so. Guess I got a little lightheaded there.”
He sat back on his heels. “Is this a normal thing for you, the lightheadedness? Any blood sugar issues?”
“No. Not since…no.”
Here’s the blurb:
Rebecca Ledgerwood is a physical education teacher who’s ready to invest some sweat equity into a lasting romance. On a whim, she has her palm read before summer vacation ends, and she’s told she’s an old soul who’ll find happiness with a younger man.
William Whitney leaves an unfulfilling career to pursue teaching and gets placed at Rebecca’s school for his physical education practicum. He’s desperate to make a difference, convinced that the choices he made in the past contributed to his younger sister’s death. Kendal High School is nothing like the prep school he attended as a teenager, but he’s determined to make the most of his time there, especially if it makes Rebecca notice him.
Though they come from vastly different backgrounds, there’s an undeniable chemistry that sparks between the two. They resist, as they must, until his practicum ends, but when he’s offered a teaching position at his former prep school, will he take the easy way out, or fight for what’s right in front of him?
Thanks so much for stopping by and be sure to visit the other Weekend Writing Warriors!
I’ve spent most of my weekend thus far live streaming the Dodgeball World Championships being played in Cancun, Mexico. A few of my good pals and former teammates are playing for Team Canada (men’s and women’s teams), and I’m so freaking proud to see them representing our country! Also, I just wanted to brag about the fact that I’ve competed with and against elite-level players. 😀 Enjoy the rest of your day and I hope your December is positively delightful!
You are the best, my friend. I got a kick out of the latest snippet. Enjoy every moment.
Thanks, my sweet friend! I get a kick out of YOU! 😀
I really wonder what that “Not since” is all about. A new plot element, I assume.
And the plot thickens! 😀 You’ll find out soon enough, Mr. Ed!
Mysterious, especially with her “not since…” comment. Can’t wait to learn more! I’m glad he was there for her…great snippet!
Glad you enjoyed that little twist, Veronica. Thanks so much for reading! 🙂
Loved him thinking the question of “Are you all right?” could be for either of them. And “not since…” What a tease!
Haha, I’m such a tease! More to come soon! Thanks so much for the feedback, Jenna! 🙂
Okay, don’t leave us hanging! 🙂 What’s going on that she’s lightheaded?
This amps up tension. Nice job!
Hee! All will be revealed…eventually. 😉 Thank you, my friend! xo
Dodgeball? Um…no. Here is where we part ways. However, I do agree that your athletic ability and your willingness to participate in new sports and just life in general has given you – and your writing – much richness. You constantly amaze me!
And I love a good cliff-hanger! Well done!
Well, gosh, thank you! You sure know how to make a girl’s day! I promise to never throw a dodgeball at you, but I also promise to protect you if ever a dodgeball happens to be launched in your direction. 😀
I’m so happy to read more of this delightful story. That last sentence is a doozy. Raises all kinds of questions. I didn’t know there was dodgeball tournaments. Last I knew it was a playground game. lol I hope your team wins.
