Good morning, my dears! I survived my first week back at school and I’m now I’m more excited than ever to continue writing Learning to Love. Being immersed in the environment I’m writing about is incredibly motivating. Here’s the latest snippet from my work-in-progress!
Continuing from where we left off…
“Ledgey has a supervision in the gym. Remember?” He nudged her shoulder.
“Yes, I remember,” she said, shooting daggers at him.
He opened the door for Will to step out, then turned back to Rebecca and spoke in a lowered voice, “You’ve got hummus on the corner of your mouth.”
“Jesus.” Her cheeks burned furiously as she searched for something to wipe her face.
“And a spot of drool on your chin,” he added with a smirk.
“Shut it, Berg,” she fired back, along with a box of tissues. Straight at his big, fat, know-it-all head.
Here’s the blurb:
Rebecca Ledgerwood is a physical education teacher who’s ready to invest some sweat equity into a lasting romance. On a whim, she has her palm read before summer vacation ends, and she’s told she’s an old soul who’ll find happiness with a younger man.
William Whitney leaves an unfulfilling career to pursue teaching and gets placed at Rebecca’s school for his physical education practicum. He’s desperate to make a difference, convinced that the choices he made in the past contributed to his younger sister’s death. Kendal High School is nothing like the prep school he attended as a teenager, but he’s determined to make the most of his time there, especially if it makes Rebecca notice him.
Though they come from vastly different backgrounds, there’s an undeniable chemistry that sparks between the two. They resist, as they must, until his practicum ends, but when he’s offered a teaching position at his former prep school, will he take the easy way out, or fight for what’s right in front of him?

I can’t remember if I’ve told you guys this, but if so it bears repeating: Steeped in Love, the first book in my Make Me a Match series, is in the process of being turned into an audiobook!!! I signed a contract with Kobo a few weeks ago, and we’re doing a dual narration. Our male narrator will be reading Ethan’s parts beginning this week, and we’re still auditioning for Addie’s role. Fingers crossed we’ll find the perfect voice! It’s SO cool watching this all come together. I can’t wait to share the finished product! Wishing you all a rewarding week ahead! 🙂
Poor girl. I know exactly what that’s like.
Oh dear, how embarrassing for her! But a true to life detail, which you excel at, makes your characters so real. Great snippet!
Hummus, hummus everywhere!
Ha! Hummus. You’ve got wow thing happening.
Great banter! I can feel her embarrassment.
Been there! You yell, you wipe your face, you move on. Great snippet, I get a vivid visual of it.
I’m always spilling something on myself, or ending up with food between my teeth or such. However, I’m not looking for romance so the embarrassment is only mild when it inevitably happens.
Embarrassing, but at least he did say something so she didn’t go around with it like that all day. I’m glad she threw the tissues at him, though. 🙂
Eek! Sorry, I didn’t realize I was so behind on your snippets! I’m blaming it all on the twins, because on Sunday mornings we’re always running around like crazy to get ready for their visit, and then Monday comes and it’s…Monday. Anyway, I’m enjoying catching up so much! How cool about the audiobook! How amazing to get to pick the voices for your characters! So awesome!
