Greetings, my word-loving friends! I’m a little bit loopy as I type this post. I blame it on the cold meds and the fact that I’ve slept more than I’ve been awake the last couple days, but I think I’m over the worst of it! 🙂 So, I shall make the most of my wakey time and share another snippet from Learning to Love!

Continuing from where we left off….

Pete jammed his key into the lock, and Will held his breath. Rebecca might be on the other side of the door. God, he hoped she was and prayed she wasn’t. He felt like a teenager again, scared as hell of talking to the prettiest girl and bullheaded enough to try, knowing that if he didn’t, somebody else would get to her first.

Disappointment lodged in his gut as the door opened to a Rebecca-less office. Pete set about gathering up his things, clearly anxious for his weekend to begin, and Will propped himself against the desk they’d designated for him to use while he worked there, if you could even call it a desk. Three of the drawers were jammed shut and the surface looked like it’d been through a war and came out on the losing side. But, it was his. And it was right next to Rebecca’s desk.

“All right, I’m outta here,” Pete said, giving him a smile as he passed by.

Here’s the blurb:

Rebecca Ledgerwood is a Physical Education teacher who’s ready to invest some sweat equity into a lasting romance. On a whim, she has her palm read before summer vacation ends, and she’s told she’s an old soul who’ll find happiness with a younger man.

William Whitney leaves an unfulfilling career to pursue teaching and gets placed at Rebecca’s school for his Physical Education practicum. He’s desperate to make a difference, convinced that the choices he made in the past contributed to his younger sister’s death. Kendal High School is nothing like the prep school he attended as a teenager, but he’s determined to make the most of his time there, especially if it makes Rebecca notice him.

Though they come from vastly different backgrounds, there’s an undeniable chemistry that sparks between the two. They resist, as they must, until his practicum ends, but when he’s offered a teaching position at his former prep school, will he take the easy way out, or fight for what’s right in front of him?

Thanks so much for stopping by and be sure to visit the other Weekend Writing Warriors!

Friends, I’m feeling very unmotivated as of late. I haven’t been doing much writing. I’ve been waiting and waiting to hear from agents and publishers, getting my fair share of rejections along the way, and I’m so anxious to get a bit of good news. All it takes is one YES, but it feels like I’ve been waiting an eternity for that YES. Le sigh. The torment of being an author. Fingers crossed, in the next week or two I’ll get that YES. Believe me, when it comes, you’ll be able to hear my squeals and shrieks across the border. 🙂 Enjoy your week, my dears, and happy Easter!
