Writing

I’m a novel novelist!

novel-for-blog-post

I started creative writing about fourteen years ago, inspired by a certain TV show called Gilmore Girls. You might have heard of it. 😉 I wrote GG fanfiction for years and probably would have stuck to doing just that if it hadn’t been for my mom, who constantly encouraged me to step out of my comfort zone, and my amazing friend, Margaret Ethridge (a.k.a. Maggie Wells, a.k.a. Team Awesome co-captain and World’s Best Critique Partner). Mags took a giant leap into the unknown, and with hard work and a ton of perseverance, she became published. I watched in awe from the sidelines, wondering if I had what it took to take the same leap of faith.

Don’t lose hope

keep-your-head-up

I had a very different post written and scheduled for today, but in light of recent events, I needed to write and share this instead.

Dear America,

Don’t lose hope.

I know it might seem like your world has shattered, like everything you thought you knew has spiraled into a pit of uncertainty, and nothing makes sense anymore. But don’t lose hope. He will thrive on the fear, the anger, the apathy. Those emotional responses will make him stronger. But if you hold on to hope, your hope will trump hate. As Hillary, the rightful president, often said, America is great because America is good. Keep being good. Be kind to yourselves. Be kind to your neighbors. If 2016 has proven anything, it’s that life can be unfair and oh-so unpredictable. We’ve lost incredible people and important elections, but we won’t ever lose hope. Hope and love will always trump hate. We’ll get through this.

We’ve got your back.

Hugs,

Your Neighbours to the North

I came in like a wrecking ball!

Heyyyyy, my peeps! As promised, I’m here to share some pics from the Musically Macabre Halloween Hootenanny I attended on Saturday. It was a BLAST AND A HALF! We kicked things off at Adam and Roxy’s place, some teacher pals who throw the absolute BEST parties. I met a ton of celebrities while I was there.

Happy Halloween!

Yo, Halloween, ‘sup? I’m ready for you! Well, not really. But I totally know what I’m gonna BE! Or who, rather. That’s half the battle, right? Now all I need to do is hope I can scrounge up an outfit in time for the Halloween Karaoke Extravaganza I’m attending on Saturday!

Last year, I went to the same party and knocked everyone’s socks off with my Sandy Olsson costume. I was ‘bad’ Sandy with the leather and the tight pants and the at-ti-tude. Oh, lookie here, I have a couple pics!
